YOUNG ENGINEERS STEM PROGRAMS

We offer of 4 programs to children between the ages of 3 and 14. These classes run in church halls, community centres and other public venues. They are open to all. You can find out more details about each program below or if you are already familiar with the programs you can see the timetable and book your class.

If you are new to Young Engineers you can book a one off taster class to try our sessions. After that you book a block. You are able to start part way through a block subject to availability.

Big Builders uses K’NEX to introduce simple science concepts to young children. Classes encourage development of fine motor skills, we practice talking and listening, simple counting and patterns.

• Duration: 75 minutes

Bricks Challenge is a LEGO program that introduces engineering to children. We build a range of real-world machines and explore the maths and engineering concepts that make them work, for example circular motion in fairground rides, forces in a washing machine and gear ratios in a lawnmower.

Galileo is our advanced LEGO program. Particpants learn about famous scientists and engineerings and delve deeper into engineering concepts such as aerodynamics.

Robotics mixes LEGO and Coding. This class is aimed at young people interested in learning to code, we start right at the beginning with very simple programs and progress up to using conditional statements and loops. At the end of 3 terms particpants take part in a design challenge similar to Dragons Den and present their results to their families.

All bookings are taken online via our booking system. The booking system shows live availability and allows you to go on the waiting list for classes that are full. Waiting lists are handled automatically, if a place becomes available the system will email you and you have 12 hours to take the place before it is offered to the next person on the list or made available for public booking.
